Ingram's | 2008 Best Companies to Work For

Congratulations to our 2008 honorees!

It was hard to predict the type of submissions we would receive for Ingram’s first “Best Companies to Work For” competition. Images of offices from the late nineties came to mind, with employees napping on couches, riding scooters down hallways or playing pinball machines in the break room. While these trends still bring a smile to the face of your average office worker, new trends reflect an emerging culture, in which wellness is emphasized, training opportunities and educational benefits are a major draw, and more than ever, would-be employees covet the basic benefits of health, dental and a 401(k). But in a sea of offices that offer these benefits, there is always a corporate island that offers something extra. Something more. Things that employees appreciate and cherish. In these workplaces, a feeling of happiness reflects the company culture. Employees are upbeat, turnover rates are minimal, and parking lots are empty after soon after 5 by the boss’s design, all confirming that Kansas City is a desirable place to work and live.
